Westfield's builder carpet is aging out

Westfield has grown faster than almost anywhere in Indiana, and a lot of the homes that went up in that boom got builder-grade carpet — thin pad, light face weight, knee-kicked in on a schedule. Around the five-to-seven-year mark it ripples, mats in the walk paths, and starts looking older than the house. It depends on the carpet, not the ripples. If the fiber still has life, a power-stretch restretch from $150 pulls it flat and buys years. If the face weight was thin to begin with and it's matting in the traffic paths, replacement is the honest answer — and every tier I install includes a real pad, which is where builder carpet usually cheaped out.
