The short version

For nine years I was the installer the big stores sent. Tish Flooring and the Lowe’s installer program, 240 to 300 homes a year, all over Indiana, with my father as my install partner the entire time. The homeowner never knew my name. The store took the margin, I took 49 cents a square foot, and the floor was still mine to get right.

In April 2026 I put my own name on the work. Z Flooring LLC is me, my father, and the install partners I bring on when a job needs more hands. I am on site for every install, start to finish. The prices are posted on this site so you can do the math at your own kitchen table before I ever knock.

What I actually do

Five things, and I do all five on purpose. The rugs and the repairs are the ones other installers drop. I don’t.

Carpet installation. Four posted tiers, pad included, power stretched on every job.

LVP and laminate. Vapor barrier on every slab, moisture tested first, installed to the manufacturer’s spec so the warranty holds.

Custom rugs, runners and stair runners. Any carpet, cut to size, bound, serged or canvas edged.

Carpet repair. Restretch and patches. Most rippled carpet does not need replacing, and I will tell you so.

Stair installations. Wall-to-wall carpeted stairs and LVP stairs, priced per step.

The seven things I do on every job

These are not upgrades. They are the job.

1. Power stretch, never knee-kick. It is why my carpet stays flat for fifteen years and knee-kicked carpet ripples in three.

2. Pad seams taped, never stapled. Staples puncture the moisture barrier you paid for.

3. Subfloor swept, scraped and shop-vacced before anything goes down. If it needs more than that, you hear it before install day.

4. Manufacturer guidelines followed. Acclimation, expansion gaps, subfloor spec. The warranty only holds if the install does.

5. Three text updates a day during the install: start, midday, end, with photos.

6. Air vents vacuumed after the install, so the dust does not live in your ductwork for a month.

7. The nine-day check-in. I come back and walk the floor with you. Seams, transitions, stretch.

Who does the work

I am on site for every install, start to finish. Work is performed by Z Flooring LLC and its install partners, and Z Flooring stays responsible for all of it. The one-year labor warranty applies no matter whose hands were on the tool that day. You hear about the crew from me, not from a truck in the driveway.

Registered Indiana LLC, insured, and every contract follows Indiana’s home improvement law (IC 24-5-11), including the three-day cancellation window. Callbacks are rare, and when they happen they are almost always a material or manufacturer issue. Either way, you text me, not a 1-800 number.
